ROCK THE VOTE
Florida Partisan Primary Election
In 1990, music executives founded Rock the Vote in response to the censorship of hip-hop and rap artists. Their first partnership, with MTV, promoted the message that “Censorship is Un-American” and activated millions of young people across the country to exercise their rights and represent their interests. For over thirty years, they have continuously adapted to the changing landscapes of media, technology and culture to breakthrough and empower each new generation.

CS/CS/HB 1203 — Homeowners’ Associations
The bill enhances the governance of homeowners' associations and the practices of community association managers (CAMs). It requires CAMs to attend meetings, provide information to community members, and complete ongoing education. From January 1, 2026, associations with 100 or more parcels must maintain digital records accessible online, provide subpoenaed records promptly, and retain records for at least seven years. Criminal penalties are introduced for violations, including misdemeanors and felonies related to recordkeeping and fraudulent voting. Associations must have audited financial statements if they have over 1,000 parcels, and fines can be waived if detailed accountings aren't provided timely. Education requirements for directors are updated and associations cannot restrict certain structures or improvements. Electronic voting is allowed and only simple interest can accrue on unpaid assessments. These provisions take effect on July 1, 2024, following approval by the Governor or by becoming law without the Governor's signature.

EVERGLADES RESTORATION
Central Everglades Planning Project
The Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP), part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP), is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD). This project aims to restore the central Everglades ecosystem by capturing water that would otherwise be lost to the tide and redirecting it southward to the central Everglades, Everglades National Park, and Florida Bay. The planning process for CEPP utilized a streamlined pilot process that significantly reduced the study time, completing it in half the time typically required, which previously could have taken six years or more.
